Bogovic sweeps weekly conference honors to conclude regular season

COLONIA, N.J. – Freshman Madilyn Bogovic (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cedar Cliff) of the 25th-ranked Kutztown University women's bowling team closed out the regular season by sweeping the weekly conference awards, collecting both the East Coast Conference Bowler and Rookie of the Week honors for her performance at this past weekend's Northeast Roundup, as announced by the organization on Thursday afternoon.

Along with Bogovic's weekly honor, fellow first-year kegler Isabella Hopper (Mifflinville, Pa./Berwick) was named to the Weekly Honor Roll, adding to her stellar first collegiate season donning the Maroon and Gold.

Bogovic, who earlier today was named the ECC Rookie of the Year and an All-ECC First Team selection, finished sixth in a field of 65 bowlers this past weekend. The Mechanicsburg, Pa., native opened the competition with a team-leading 20.12 pins per frame, an 82 percent fill rate, a 9.2 first ball average and a 50 percent strike rate that proved to be pivotal, while her four 200+ pin games helped her to an average of 201.2 pins on the day. Big time performances of 202, 216 and 212 pins anchored big wins over Wagner, Molloy, and Chestnut Hill.

She didn't slow down in baker play, as the rookie filled 78.8 percent of frames with a 19.9 pin average while doubling up on a team-high 52.4 percent of baker double attempts (11-of-21). She improved on her numbers in the 10th frame, striking on half of her opportunities while averaging filling well over three-quarters of her frames on the second day of competition.

Hopper's weekend saw her finish 12th in the field, as she found success in both team and baker play at the two-day event. She opened competition with an 82 percent fill mark and a team-leading 91.3 makeable spare rate (21-of-23), while bowling an 18.52 per frame average that helped her achieve a 187.2 average per game, including a day-high 223 game in a 971-717 win over Wagner to open the day.

The Berwick High School product turned up the heat in baker play, putting up team highs in average pins per frame (20.08) and fill percentage (82.7 percent) while converting 71 percent of spares. She competed as the setup bowler in 26 frames, following up on nearly 85 percent of spare attempts, building a strong power tandem with fellow rookie Bogovic.

The duo combined to help the team to a fourth-place finish after an 8-2 weekend at the Northeast Roundup in Delaware, the team's last regular-season outing of its 2025-26 campaign.

For Bogovic, her Rookie of the Week honor makes it a clean, six-for-six sweep of all weekly rookie honors she was eligible to earn since the start of her season in January. Additionally, her Bowler of the Week honor marks her second such recognition this season, coming after her equally key performance at the Griffin Baker Classic earlier this season.

Bogovic, Hopper and the rest of the Golden Bear (56-29 overall) keglers now look ahead to this weekend, when the team will compete at the East Coast Conference Women's Bowling Championship at Hackensack, N.J.'s Bowler City Lanes, with competition between conference foes beginning Friday, March 20, and running through Sunday, March 22.
