Bogovic’s historic season capped off with national All-Rookie honor

CLEVELAND – After a record-breaking season that featured eight weekly East Coast Conference honors, the ECC Rookie of the Year and a spot on the All-ECC First Team, star bowler Madilyn Bogovic (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cedar Cliff) of the Kutztown University women's bowling team was named to the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) All-Rookie First Team, the sport's national coaches organization announced Thursday.

The award is yet another well-earned accomplishment for the Mechanicsburg, Pa., native, who placed herself squarely in the middle of the spotlight in the 2026 portion of the season by earning all six possible ECC Rookie of the Week honors, as well as a pair of East Coast Conference Player of the Week honors following the Griffin Baker Classic and the Northeast Roundup.

Her individual accomplishments in her first collegiate season were only rivaled by the top bowlers on the nation's highest-ranked teams. The Player Composite Performance Index, a scale developed by the NTCA that combines both traditional and baker numbers while measuring fill, strike, and overall conversion rate, placed Bogovic 12th among all bowlers and tops among Division II or III counterparts.

These numbers included an overall average of 212 pins, spread across a traditional average of 211.1 and a baker mark of 212.5 pins. She filled 87.5 percent of her total frames and struck nearly 55 percent of the time. She averaged 9.24 pins on her first ball while converting on just shy of 73 percent of her spares, and left 7.6 percent of split opportunities on the table, ranking within the top 10 of all qualified bowlers in the nation.

Her performance, both in her fifth spot in the lineup and in pivotal moments throughout the season, helped lift the nationally ranked Golden Bears to a 57-31 season and a third-place finish at the East Coast Conference Championships in late March.

The rookie collects the program's fourth national rookie student-athlete honor from the NTCA, following in the footsteps of Kamryn Brenneman (York, Pa./Central York), who was named to the Second Team in 2025. Program greats Kayla Stamm (2008) and Kayla Jones (2009) were each named the top DII rookie bowler in back-to-back seasons nearly two decades ago.

Bogovic is set to return to the Golden Bears squad next season with a core of young bowlers, including Brenneman, a Second Team All-ECC selection this past season, and fellow ECC All-Rookie Team member Isabella Hopper (Mifflinville, Pa./Berwick). She will look to build on her efforts in the 2026-27 campaign as she sets her eyes on the possibility of becoming the Golden Bears' ninth All-American and picking up the honors for just the second time since 2014.
