Bowling’s Kamryn Brenneman earns second ECC bowler, rookie of the week honor

COLONIA, N.J. – First-year bowler Kamryn Brenneman (York, Pa./Central York) earned her second East Coast Conference Bowler and Rookie of the Week honors after another stellar performance at Coppin State's Lady Eagles Invitational, as announced by the league office Thursday.

The York, Pa., native rolled a 199 traditional average over five games on Saturday to finish eighth out of 110 bowlers in the individual standings in the Maryland-based tournament, the top spot among all ECC bowlers competing on the weekend. Her 259 mark in the opening win over Howard came in as the second-best solo tally at the tournament. She finished the weekend bowling in the third position in baker play, winning both baker games while putting up hard-fought losses in a pair of best-of-seven baker defeats.

Senior Chloe Sromovski (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./G.A.R. Memorial) earned recognition on the ECC's honor roll for her ninth-place finish in the individual standings after a 197.8 average over five traditional matches on Saturday. The senior was one of six bowlers on the weekend to record three 200+ pin games, including a high game of 226 against No. 23 Delaware State. The Wilkes-Barre, Pa., native rolled in the anchor spot for most of Sunday's competition, posting solid numbers to lead the Golden Bears to a pair of wins in baker play.

The team rolled their way to a 3-2 record in Saturday's traditional competition before picking up a pair of wins in Sunday's baker play to claim a spot in the championship bracket, finishing fourth out of 16 teams on the weekend.

The Golden Bears head on a hiatus for the rest of the semester, but will make their return in 2025 at the Northeast Classic, hosted by Sacred Heart University at the Bowlerama Bowling Lanes in New Castle, Del. The three-day tournament takes place from Jan. 17-19, 2025, and regularly draws some of the nation's best college bowling teams to open the new calendar year, making it one of the toughest outings Kutztown will compete in this season.
