FLEETWOOD, Pa. -- Reigning PSAC Athlete of the Week
Brooke Graham (Carlisle, Pa./Boiling Springs) registered the fifth-best opening round score with a 9-over par 79 as the Golden Bear women's golf team began play at their home tournament, the Kutztown Fall Invitational, on Sunday.
Graham birdied the second hole, a 365-yard par 4, before putting forth eight pars on a tough Moselem Springs course. Only six players shot sub 80 rounds and Graham sits just two shots back of second and seven shots off the lead heading into Monday's final round.
Sophomore
Rhi Stutz (Prescott, Wisc./Prescott) had six pars during her round of 83 which placed her 12th of 40 players.
Gabby Cohen (Jeffersonville, N.Y./Sullivan West) drained a birdie on the 350-yard par 4 10th and added four pars for an 86 and
Brooke Prindiville (Hawthorn Woods, Ill./Lake Zurich) had a birdie on the par 3 15th, which was playing at 130 yards, during her round of 93.
Alexis Peet (Greentown, Pa./Wallenpaupack) and Emma Nobles each carded 97s for KU, while
Alivia Miesowitz (Hazleton, Pa./Hazleton) shot 102.
Kutztown is fifth in the team standings with a 341 (+61), one shot ahead of PSAC foe Bloomsburg. Alvernia shot 316 to take a one stroke lead over Millersville. Gettysburg (333) and West Chester (336) are third and fourth.
Round two will begin at 11 a.m. on Monday.
