LOCK HAVEN, Pa. -- The Kutztown University men's cross country team had three runners finish inside the top 50 as the Golden Bears placed 11th at the NCAA DII Atlantic Region Championship hosted at Lock Haven Saturday afternoon.

It was the freshman duo of Robbie Lloyd (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North) and Andrew Diehl (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle) that led the way for the Golden Bears. In their first collegiate 10,000-meter race, Lloyd paced KU in 39th, followed by Diehl in 46th. Junior Jack Hollar (East Stroudsburg, Pa./Pocono Mountain East) came in only one place behind Diehl in 47th.

Kayden Platania (Buena, N.J./Buena Regional) was the other Golden Bear to finish inside the top 100, crossing the line in 82nd. Jacob Huber (Bethlehem, Pa./Saucon Valley), Port Habalar (Williamsport, Pa./South Williamsport), and Connor Murphy (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth) rounded out the Golden Bears to compete at Lock Haven.

Similar to the women's championship, Charleston (W. Va.) captured the team title with only 54 points. George Couttie, Zane Chalker, and Matthys Bourse crossed the line at one, two, and three for the Golden Eagles. Davis & Elkins and Shippensburg finished second and third, as all three teams secured a berth to the NCAA Championship. 

The Golden Bears cap off a successful 2023 campaign that saw KU win the Panthers XC Invite to go along with two other top three teams finishes and a sixth-place finish at the 2023 PSAC Championship.
