QUARRYVILLE, Pa. -- Olivia Donnini's (Wapwallopen, Pa./Crestwood) season-low round of 85 was good for seventh place overall and helped the Kutztown University women's golf team to a fourth-place team finish in Saturday's Millersville Invitational at Tanglewood Manor Golf Course.
Donnini registered nine pars and a birdie on No. 5, 326-yard par 4. She was relatively consistent, playing the front nine in 7-over (43) and the back nine in 6-over (42) on the par 72 track that played at 5,804 yards.
Four shots back of Donnini was
Cecelia Knecht (North Charleston, S.C./Fort Dorchester) with a 17-over 89 in a tie for 11th Cassandra Vogel of the host Marauders. Knecht birdied No. 1 and went on to collect five pars during her round.
Kutztown's remaining three players finished in a cluster, holding down spots 27, 28 and 29 in the field of 40 players. The trio were separated by just four shots as
Kayla McMahon (Sayreville, N.J./Sayreville War Memorial) carded a 100, Grace Babichak a 101 and
Alivia Miesowitz (Hazleton, Pa./Hazleton) a 104.
Millersville won the tournament by 12 shots over PSAC foe West Chester. The Marauders finished at 343 (+55) to the Golden Rams' 355 (+67). Le Moyne was third at 368 (+80), with Kutztown (375, +87), Muhlenberg (400, +112) and Lebanon Valley (442, +154) accounting for the remainder of the scoring teams.
Jefferson's Ammala Moua won the tiebreaker over Le Moyne's Nataly Avontins to claim medalist honors after both players shot rounds of 6-over par 78.
The Golden Bears will finish the weekend by hosting the Kutztown Spring Invitational at Moselem Springs Golf Club, Sunday. Players tee off at noon.
