Acrobatics & Tumbling closes inaugural season with win over East Stroudsburg

KUTZTOWN, Pa. -- The Kutztown University acrobatics & tumbling team wrapped up its first season of competition with a victory, defeating East Stroudsburg for a second time, 219.750-206.295, Friday evening at Keystone Arena.

The win moved the Golden Bears to 3-3, while the Warriors fell to 2-5.

KU came out strong in the compulsory event, registering season-highs of 9.75 in the pyramid heat and 9.60 in the toss heat to go in front by more than three points.

In the acro event, Kutztown slightly increased its lead behind a season-best 9.20 in the 7-element heat. Overall, the Maroon and Gold won 15-of-20 heats on the night.

The Bears went into the half leading by 6.15 (85.00-79.15) after outscoring the Warriors by 1.2 in the pyramid event. Kutztown scored in the nines for the fourth time this season in the inversion heat (9.00) and produced a season-high 9.70 in the open heat.

Kutztown extended its lead after the break by claiming the 450 salto, synchronized and open heats in the toss, with a 9.00 in the open to finish off the event.

Karah Paull's team maintained its lead through the tumbling event and scored a season-high 68.450 in the team event to earn the win.
