NORTH EAST, Pa. -- Sophomore
Alexis Perez (Pearland, Texas/J. Frank Dobie) posted an opening round score of 88 and the Kutztown University women's golf team sits eighth in the team standings at the Evann Parker Memorial hosted by Mercyhurst.
Perez's team-leading score was 16-over par on the day and put her just inside the top 25 on the overall leaderboard.

Grace Babinchak (Hazleton, Pa./Hazleton) worked around the par 72 course in 92, second best of the Golden Bear contingent. Close on Babinchak's heels were
Olivia Donnini (Wapwallopen, Pa./Crestwood) with a 93 and
Cecelia Knecht (North Charleston, S.C./Fort Dorchester) with a 94.
Molly Agnello (Stroudsburg, Pa./Pocono Mountain East) rounded out Kutztown's lineup with a 95, wrapping up a consistent day in which one through five players were separated by just seven shots.
Franklin Pierce, which got a 75 from Kesinee Prukmathakul and a 77 from Alia Godek, stormed to the lead after day one with a 317, 10 shots clear of Charleston (W.Va.). Gannon (333) and host Mercyhurst (338) hold third and fourth, while Millersville and Ursuline are tied for fifth at 358.
Ursuline's Dymphna Ueda carded a 2-over 74 to lead the individual standings. Prukmathakul and Charleston's Beatrice Dietz each sit a shot off the lead.
The tournament concludes with second round play on Saturday.
