KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Kutztown University women's volleyball team returned home for the first time in almost two years looking for a victory. KU found it in dramatic fashion, outlasting Chestnut Hill 3-2 (25-18, 19-25, 25-15, 20-25, 15-12) in a non-conference match Monday night inside a humid, Keystone Arena.
 
The Golden Bears (2-6 overall) snapped a six-match losing streak in a back-and-forth matchup with the Griffins (2-3) where each team traded wins until KU was the last team standing to celebrate after a two-hour and 15-minute slugfest.
 
Just when each team won a set and had the momentum, the other team took it right back. Kutztown never found itself trailing in sets, winning the first, third and fifth sets.
 
Sydney Wilson (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty), who moved into second all-time in program history in digs last weekend at the East Stroudsburg Invitational, finished with 19 digs, five service aces and four assists. Lauren Jackson (Stafford, Va./Mountain View) tallied nine kills, while both Erin Patterson (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) and Sophia Basler (Dover, Del./Smyrna) totaled eight. Lexi Morrow (Landisburg, Pa./West Perry) contributed 32 assists and 10 digs, Gianna Agosti (Nesquehoning, Pa./Marian Catholic) notched 11 digs and two aces, and Grace Ingram (Allentown, Pa./William Allen) had a game-high six blocks.
 
Kutztown will remain home for its next nine matches, including two this Friday, Sept. 17. KU takes on Salem at 3 p.m., followed by Georgian Court at 7 p.m., as part of a tri-match at Keystone Arena.
