Box Score 2 KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Kutztown University women's volleyball team has found its groove of late. KU won its two non-conference matches Friday defeating Salem and Georgian Court 3-0 inside Keystone Arena in a tri-match between the three schools.
The Golden Bears (4-6 overall) have now won three matches in-a-row, carrying positive momentum heading into conference play next weekend. Scores of the Tigers match was 25-14, 25-15, 25-20, and against the Lions it was 25-17, 25-22, 25-17.
"I thought that we played well all day overall," said head coach
John Gump. "Our hitting and communication was on. It's good to get wins against competition like this before we start a difficult portion of our schedule with PSAC play next weekend."
In KU's match against Georgian Court, freshman
Sophia Basler (Dover, Del./Smyrna) led the team with 10 kills and added five digs. Both
Lauren Jackson (Stafford, Va./Mountain View) and
Erin Patterson (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) tallied nine kills.
Sydney Wilson (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) recorded 18 digs, five assists and three aces.
Lexi Morrow (Landisburg, Pa./West Perry) contributed 27 assists and two blocks.
Up next for Kutztown following a week off is Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference play as KU hosts East Stroudsburg University next Friday, Sept. 24, at 7 p.m., before another tri-match with Bowie State and Frostburg State the following day.
