KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Kutztown University football team remained second in Super Region One in Mondays' second edition of NCAA Regional Rankings. KU moved up two spots to No. 19 in Division II in the latest American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) national poll.
The Golden Bears (8-1, 6-0 PSAC East) clinched at least a share of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division title with last week's 30-7 win over Millersville University – the fifth division title in program history – and secured a spot in the PSAC Championship Game Nov. 13. KU will host the title game at 12:05 p.m., at Andre Reed Stadium, against the winner of this weekend's Slippery Rock-California University (Pa.) matchup.
KU, who has won 14-straight PSAC East games, will compete in consecutive PSAC Championship games for the first time in program history.
KU has made the NCAA Tournament four times in its history, including each of the last two seasons (2018, 2019).
NCAA Regional rankings will be released Nov. 8, with the NCAA Selection Show scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 14.
The Division II Football Championship provides for a maximum field of 28 teams. Seven teams will be selected from each of the four regions – the top seed in each region will receive a bye in the first round of the playoffs.
No conference will receive automatic qualification for the 2021 NCAA Division II Football Championship. Earned access to the playoffs can be gained by a conference if a conference's highest-ranked team is in the top nine of the final super region rankings on Selection Sunday.
