KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Kutztown University athletic department would like to announce the Team MVPs and Coaches Award winners Monday following the 2019-20 calendar year.
Fall Sports
Cheerleading
The MVP of this year's cheer team is sophomore
Taiya Miller (Tobyhanna, Pa./Pocono Mountain West).
The Coaches Award goes to sophomore
DJ Greenzweig (Saylorsburg, Pa./Pleasant Valley).
Men's Cross Country
The MVP of the men's cross country team is sophomore
Evan Adanatzian (Manahawkin, N.J./Southern Regional). Adanatzian was a First-Team All-PSAC runner, finishing second overall at the PSAC Championships, the program's best finish at the event.
The men's cross country Coaches Award winner is junior
Andrew Sulon (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg). Sulon was also a First-Team All-PSAC runner this season, placing 15th at the PSAC Championships, while just missing out on All-Region honors, finishing 26th. He is a PSAC Scholar-Athlete and a Dean's List member.
Women's Cross Country
The Team MVP for the women's cross country team is senior
Lindsay Hoffman (Tabernacle, N.J./Seneca). Hoffman earned All-PSAC First-Team honors with a 14th-place finish at PSAC Championships, while placing 30th at Regionals. She is also a Dean's List member.
The winner of the Coaches Award is junior
Dootleen Joseph (Upper Darby, Pa./Upper Darby). Joseph earned All-PSAC Second Team honors, crossing the finish line in 25th at PSACs, while placing 34th at Regionals. She has been a Dean's List member.
Field Hockey
The field hockey Team MVP, for the second straight year, is senior
Mackenzie Fuhrman (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township). Fuhrman was named a First Team All-American and First Team All-PSAC as one of the top players in the country. She also earned a spot on the prestigious PSAC Fall Top-10 list. Fuhrman is a PSAC Scholar-Athlete, a Dean's List member and a NFHCA Scholar of Distinction.
The winner of the Coaches Award is sophomore
Juliana Borisow (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton). Borisow started in 13 games this season, tallying two goals as a defender. She helped contribute to 10 shutouts. Borisow is a PSAC Scholar-Athlete.
Football
The MVP of this year's football team redshirt-senior
Collin DiGalbo (Secane, Pa./Monsignor Bonner). DiGalbo was voted PSAC East Offensive Athlete of the Year and All-PSAC East First Team, while being named to D2CCA and Don Hansen Football Gazette All-Super Region 1 teams and garnering an honorable mention All-America nod from D2Football.com.
The Coaches Award goes to senior
Matt Cella (Secane, Pa./Springfield). Cella was a three-year starter and 2019 team captain. He was recognized as First-Team All-PSAC East, D2CCA and Don Hansen All-Super Region I First Team and Don Hansen Honorable Mention All-America.
Women's Golf
The team MVP award is freshman
Cecelia Knecht (North Charleston, S.C./Fort Dorchester). Knecht is a PSAC Scholar-Athlete and finished the year with three top-10 finishes, including tied for 10th overall at the PSAC Championships. She holds an average of 86.4 following her first collegiate season.
The Coaches Award goes to freshman
Olivia Donnini (Wapwallopen, Pa./Crestwood). Donnini is a PSAC Scholar-Athlete who had one top-10 finish in five events this season. She has an average of 92.8 after her first year in Maroon and Gold.
Women's Soccer
The team MVP award went to junior
Savanna Harrison (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge). Harrison was named All-PSAC Second Team and started in all 17 games she played in this season. She is a PSAC Scholar-Athlete and a member of the Dean's List.
The winner of the Coaches Award is junior
Maggie Cecere (Batavia, N.Y./Batavia). Cecere started 13-of-18 games this season and finished with career-highs of seven goals and three assists. She is a PSAC Scholar-Athlete and a Dean's List member.
Women's Volleyball
The volleyball Team MVP is junior
Holly Owen (Hatboro, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham). Owen was a team captain this season and was named to the All-PSAC Third Team. She finished with 442 kills, fifth-most in a season in program history. Owen is a PSAC Scholar-Athlete and a member of the Dean's List.
The winner of the coach's award is junior
Sarah Williams (Baltimore, Md./Homeschooled). In two matches this season, Williams finished with four assists and one dig. She is a PSAC Scholar-Athlete and a Dean's List member.
Winter Sports
Men's Basketball
The MVP of this year's team is redshirt-junior
Tarojae Brake (Coatesville, Pa./Octorara). Brake was a team captain and earned All-PSAC East Second Team honors. He started in all 27 games that he played in his first season in Maroon and Gold, averaging 16.0 points per game and 4.4 rebounds per game.
The Coaches Award for the men's basketball team goes to freshman
Wesley Butler (Reading, Pa./Reading). In his first collegiate season, Butler led KU with 18.2 ppg, setting the KU freshman record for points in a season with 510, while being named to the All-PSAC East Second Team. He was also a member of the Dean's List.
Women's Basketball
This year's women's basketball Team MVP for the third-straight year is sophomore
Rylee Derr (Lititz, Pa./Warwick). Derr was named to the All-PSAC First Team led KU with 15.4 ppg, starting all 29 games this season. She was also second in the PSAC with 81 made three-pointers. Derr is a PSAC Scholar-Athlete and a member of the Dean's List.
This year's Coaches Award recipient is senior
Karen Lapkiewicz (Southampton, Pa./Saint Basil Academy). Lapkiewicz started in all 23 games she appeared before suffering a season-ending injury. She averaged 9.1 ppg and a career-high 4.2 rpg, while leading the PSAC in free-throw percentage (.870). Lapkiewicz is a PSAC Scholar-Athlete.
Women's Bowling
The MVP of this year's bowling team is sophomore
Madison Burkert (Reading, Pa./Muhlenberg). Burkert is a secondary education major. She led KU with 547 baker frames and 300 traditional during the season and returns next year for her junior season.
This year's Coaches Award goes to sophomore
Molly Agnello (Stroudsburg, Pa./Pocono Mountain East). Agnello is a communication design major. She finished with an 18.31 average per frame.
Women's Swimming
The MVP of this year's swimming team for the second year-in-a-row is junior
Lindsay Brenneman (Dover, Pa./Dover). Brenneman competed in seven events at the PSAC Championships, including two top-10 performances.
The recipient of the Coaches Award is junior
Megan Hayward (Meshoppen, Pa./Tunkhannock). Hayward was a PSAC Qualifier in six events in her first season in Maroon and Gold.
Wrestling
The MVP of this year's wrestling team is sophomore
Collin Wickramaratna (Marlton, N.J./Cherokee). In his first season at KU, Wickramaratna was a National Qualifier at 133 pounds, won a Super Region I championship and was an All-PSAC First Teamer. He finished 24-2 overall.
This year's Coaches Award goes to senior
Mitchell Camp (Chadds Ford, Pa./Unionville). Camp went 9-8 overall this season, a career-high in victories in a season. He is a PSAC Scholar-Athlete and a member of the Dean's List.
Spring Sports
Women's Lacrosse
The MVP of the women's lacrosse team is senior
Destanee Watkins (Emmaus, Pa./Emmaus). Watkins started all five games this season, finishing with a team-high 11 goals and 15 caused turnovers, while her 16 ground balls and 19 draw controls were second. She is a PSAC Scholar-Athlete and a Dean's List member.
The winner of the Coaches Award is junior
Lesley Lane (Jamesburg, N.J./Monroe Township). Lane started in all five games this season and finished with nine goals and four assists, while adding six ground balls and two caused turnovers. She is a PSAC Scholar-Athlete and a member of the Dean's List.
Baseball
The baseball team's MVP this year is redshirt-junior
Collin Bishop (Laurel Springs, N.J./Highland Regional). Bishop ranked in the top-five in the PSAC in batting average (3rd, .528), slugging % (1st, .972), RBI (4th, 24), HR (T5th, 4) and on-base % (5th, .568). He is a PSAC Scholar-Athlete and a member of the Dean's List.
This year's Coaches Award winner is redshirt-junior
Jake Augustus (Fogelsville, Pa./Northwestern Lehigh). Augustus started in all 11 games this season and held a .382 batting average. He was second on KU with 13 hits and 13 runs. Augustus is a PSAC Scholar-Athlete and Dean's List member.
Softball
The MVP of the softball team is sophomore
Kate Ostaszewski (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan). Ostaszewski started in all 22 games this season and finished with a .324 batting average and was second on KU with 24 hits and 11 runs scored.
The winner of the Coaches Award is senior
Taylor Knappenberger (Schnecksville, Pa./Parkland). Knappenberger started all 22 games this season and finished with 17 hits and six runs scored, while hitting .279.
Men's Tennis
The men's tennis MVP this year is senior
Josh Carl (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin). Carl won a doubles match this season and was an All-PSAC Second Teamer in doubles last year. He is a PSAC Scholar-Athlete.
This year's Coaches Award winner is senior
Benjamin Kelly (Medina, Ohio/Highland). Kelly has six career victories in doubles and is a PSAC Scholar-Athlete.
Women's Tennis
This year's women's tennis team MVP is senior
Alicia Pursell (Hamburg, Pa./Hamburg). Pursell won a match in doubles this season and has 20 total career victories in singles and doubles combined. She is a Dean's List member.
Men's Track & Field
The MVP of the men's track & field team is junior
Xavier Feliciano (Kennett Square, Pa./Kennett). Feliciano earned All-PSAC and All-Atlantic Region honors, while also winning a PSAC championship in the pole vault at the Indoor Championships this year.
The winner of the Coaches Award is junior
Tommy Oliver (Bensalem, Pa./Bensalem). Oliver earned All-Region and All-PSAC honors in the high jump this season.
Women's Track & Field
The women's track & field MVP is senior
Meghan Forsythe (Philadelphia, Pa./Saint Hubert Catholic). Forsythe won the PSAC indoor championship in the 400m this season, while earning All-PSAC and All-Region recognition along the way. She also set a new program-record in the 400m (57.41).
This year's Coaches Award winner is senior
Abigail Zeger (Fayetteville, Pa./Chambersburg). Zeger finished a career-best fourth in the PSAC Indoor Championships in the pole vault this season. She is a PSAC Scholar-Athlete and a member of the Dean's List.
