KUTZTOWN, Pa. – After a little over a four-month hiatus, the Kutztown University men's and women's tennis teams will be back out on the courts, as KU travels south this weekend for spring break for four matches in Hilton Head Island, S.C.
The Golden Bears will take on Salem University on Sunday, March 8, followed by three matches on consecutive days. They play West Liberty and Michigan Tech on alternating days, and then the men face Chowan on Wednesday with the women competing against Edinboro on the final day.
Kutztown men last competed on Oct. 18, a 4-3 win over Davis & Elkins, and is 1-1 overall. The KU women last hit the court back on Oct. 22, falling to St. Thomas Aquinas 5-2 on the road, and is 1-4 on the year.
Renato Santos (Seixal, Portugal/Fernão Mendes Pinto),
Kurt Abell (Sinking Spring, Pa./Conrad Weiser) and
Logan Kemp (Hanover, Pa./South Western) all have a victory in singles action this season, while Santos and
Josh Carl (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin), along with Abell and Kemp teamed up for a doubles win each. On the women's side,
Catherine Maher (Shillington, Pa./Berks Catholic),
Amanda Grebosky (Reisterstown, Md./Mount de Sales Academy) and
Kalena Grey (Reading, Pa./Reading) have all earned two singles victories, and
Elyssa Tomczyk (Plainville, Conn./Plainville) also has a win in singles under her belt this year. The duos of Grebosky and
Alicia Pursell (Hamburg, Pa./Hamburg), along with Grey and Tomczyk have recorded a win each in doubles.
