BLOOMSBURG, Pa. -- Josh Carl (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) and Nolan Perugini (Reading, Pa./Exeter Township) won five games, but were edged out by Mercyhurst University 8-5 in the men's doubles final at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Individual Championships Sunday morning at Bloomsburg University.
 
The junior Carl and senior Perugini won both of their matches in day one yesterday, Saturday, Sept. 29. They defeated Edinboro University's Kevin Mboko and Julius Schulte in the quarterfinal round, and then took down host team's Lucas Pedrotti and Bernardo Abreu of the Huskies in the semifinals. Both were by scores of 8-3.
 
It was the first time competing at PSAC's for both Golden Bears.
 
Kutztown opens its fall regular season schedule at the University of the Sciences on Thursday, Oct. 4 at 2:30 p.m.
