ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Kutztown University men's tennis team continued its recent streak of victories, picking up a 6-3 win Sunday afternoon in a nonconference match at Roberts Wesleyan. It is the third consecutive match won by KU.
The Golden Bears (7-3 overall) won two of the three doubles matches, and had four players win their singles matches on the day.
Martin Munoz (Las Palmas, Spain/Claret (Post)),
Nolan Perugini (Reading, Pa./Exeter Township) and
Josh Carl (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) all won both their singles and doubles matches for KU. Munoz was victorious at No. 1 singles and No. 3 doubles, where the senior teamed with
Joan Oliver Perez (Andratx, Spain/IES Baltasar Porcel). Munoz has now evened his record on the season to 5-5 in singles and doubles.
Perugini and Carl teamed together at No. 2 doubles, edging out a 9-7 victory. Perugini was taken to a tie-breaking set in No. 3 singles, but picked up his eighth win of the season at singles. Carl (6-3) also boasts a winning record in singles, coming off an 8-4 win at No. 5 singles.
Gabriel Nogara Souza (Curitiba, Brazil/Dom Bosco) came back after losing the first set, to win 5-7, 6-1, 10-7, and improve his record at singles to 6-2 this season.
Kutztown is back in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play on Tuesday, April 10 when it travels to take on Bloomsburg University at 3 p.m.
