KU Game Notes | IUP Game Notes
KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Kutztown University men's basketball team will look to take down another top-five, nationally-ranked team when it opens up Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play with two games this weekend, hosting No. 3 Indiana (PA) Saturday, Dec. 1, and then Clarion on Sunday, Dec. 2. Both tip-offs are set for 3 p.m. at Keystone Arena following the KU women's games.
After defeating then-No. 2 West Liberty, 107-97 back on Nov. 9, the Golden Bears (4-2 overall) will stare across the court at another top-three ranked opponent, IUP (6-0). The victory against the Hilltoppers was the highest-ranked win over an opponent in program history.
Kutztown is 2-0 at Keystone Arena this season and has lost just 4 games at home the last 4 years. The KU offense ranks 2nd in the PSAC in scoring at 85.7 points per game (ppg), while IUP has the 3rd ranked scoring defense (62.5 ppg). The Golden Bears offense scores at a high clip and also shares the ball in doing so, ranking third in the conference with 16.67 assists per game (apg).
Kutztown has victories over the University of the Sciences, Cheyney and Jefferson in non-conference action. Its two losses were by a combined five points to West Virginia Wesleyan and Lincoln (PA).
KU is second in the PSAC in field-goal percentage (51.1%) and fifth in three-point percentage (36.6%).
The Maroon and Gold entered the week ranked eighth in the latest Atlantic Regional poll.

Four of the six Kutztown freshmen have played in at least five-of-six games, including
Kyree Generett (York, Pa./William Penn),
Austin Laughlin (Glen Mills, Pa./Garnet Valley),
Da'Quan Granberry (Linwood, Pa./Chichester) and
Dylan Elliott (Sicklerville, N.J./Timber Creek). Generett leads the way for the young group, averaging 3.7 ppg in 12.8 minutes per game.
Akello Mosby (Philadelphia, Pa./Carver) has seen action in half of the games thus far and
KyAire Sumpter (Harrisburg, Pa./Harrisburg), who was a late addition to the roster, played in the win over Cheyney, scoring his first collegiate points.
IUP hits the road for the first time this season. It is undefeated in non-conference play, including a pair of double-digit wins over the Sciences and Le Moyne over Thanksgiving weekend. The Crimson Hawks are coming off a 60-48 win over Le Moyne last Saturday, holding last year's East Region champs to 29-percent shooting. Dante Lombardi scored a team-high 15 points. They have won eight of the last nine between the two teams.
