Kutztown Swept on the Road at Bloomsburg

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Kuztown University women's volleyball team fell in straight sets to the Bloomsburg University Huskies on Friday evening in a road Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) tilt.

Holly Owen (Hatboro, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) led the Kutztown attack with 11 kills, hitting .171 for the night. Jessica Howe (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg Area) posted a season-high .300 attack percentage, totaling eight kills from the right side. Brittney Moyer (Orwigsburg, Pa./Blue Mountain (Lock Haven)) added nine kills and Niki Carpenter (King of Prussia, Pa./Upper Merion Area), Abbey James (York, Pa./West York Area), Amanda Meck (Fleetwood, Pa./Fleetwood Area), Erin Patterson (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) and Sydney Wilson (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) each totaled one. 
 
Wilson led the defensive effort with 11 digs and James dished out a team-high 13 assists, also collecting seven digs. Meck finished with eight assists and six digs with Wilson adding six assists from her libero position. 
 
KU struggled on the offensive end, totaling just 33 kills in three sets of play. Bloomsburg gained the momentum in the match in the second set, outscoring KU 25-12. The Huskies' seven service aces compared to zero for the Golden Bears also contributed to the BU advantage. 
 
The Maroon and Gold (6-11, 0-8 PSAC) head to Lock Haven tomorrow, Oct. 6, for a 1 p.m. match with the Bald Eagles.
