KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Kutztown University women's basketball team returns home this Saturday, Feb. 4 for a crucial Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) matchup against Lock Haven University, beginning at 1 p.m. in Keystone Arena.

Both KU (7-16) and Lock Haven (7-12) are tied for sixth in PSAC East standings at 4-11. The winning team will move into sole possession of sixth place, and therefore the last playoff berth, with six games remaining in the season.

Kutztown will also be recognizing the Play4Kay initiative on Saturday, which has donated millions of dollars for women's cancer research. Fans are encouraged to wear pink, and the first 150 students in attendance with ID will receive a free pink t-shirt.

Kutztown is looking to regain traction after a loss to league-leading Shippensburg on Wednesday, Feb. 1. Sierra Taylor (Williamstown, N.J./Camden Catholic)'s jumper with 6:47 remaining in the first half tied the game, but a 15-6 run helped the Raiders take a 35-26 lead into the half. A triumphant attempt by the Golden Bears would bring them within single digits of the Raiders on three occasions throughout the second half, but KU ultimately trailed for the rest of the game.

Taylor (12.3 PPG) led Kutztown with 13 points and two assists. Jenna Altomare (Pennsylvania Furnace, Pa./State College Area) (11.2) scored 11 points, followed by Taylor Thames (Colmar, Pa./North Penn) with 10 points off the bench.

Kelsey Watson (Collegeville, Pa./Methacton) added eight points and eight rebounds, placing her fifth in program history with 742 boards for her career. She is currently ranked eighth in the PSAC with an average of 8.1 rebounds per game.

Taylor's performance placed her at 25th in the PSAC in scoring average and seventh in assists per game (4.0).

Saturday's game will be KU's second matchup against Lock Haven this season after a near 64-61 miss in overtime on Jan. 6. Tied at 54 after regulation, the Maroon and Gold took the lead in the first minute of overtime play until the Bald Eagles went 3-for-4 from the foul line in the final minutes to regain the lead with 48 seconds remaining.

Lock Haven, looking to rebound after a Jan. 28 loss to second place East Stroudsburg, is led by Madison McHale (11.6 PPG). Lysa Mealey adds 9.8 points per game and leads the PSAC with an average of 12.6 rebounds per contest. The Bald Eagles are ranked first in the league in rebounding average at 42.6 per game.

Kutztown returns to Keystone Arena on Wednesday, Feb. 8 to host Mansfield at 5:30 p.m. Athletes who achieved Dean's List in the 2016 fall semester will be recognized at halftime.
