Game Notes | Live Stats | Watch

KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Kutztown University men's basketball team is set to play its second straight non-conference matchup in the friendly confines of Keystone Arena, when it takes on the University of the Sciences Wednesday, Nov. 15 at 7:30 p.m.

The Golden Bears (1-0 overall) will look to win their second game in a row before beginning action in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) this weekend.

KU enters the game coming off a historic night in the regular season opener last Saturday, Nov. 11, when it defeated Penn State Schuylkill, 135-80.

The Maroon and Gold set program records for points in a game (135), assists (40), 3-pointers made (17) and field goal percentage (68.0%), while adjusting to a new season that featured five players seeing action for KU for the first time.

Entering the year, Kutztown was led by senior Ethan Ridgeway (West Chester, Pa./Bayard Rustin), redshirt-junior Anthony Lee (Willow Grove, Pa./Abington), and junior Dan Cuevas (Stroudsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg). The three Golden Bears are the most experienced on the roster.

Against the Nittany Lions, both Ridgeway and Lee set individual program records. Ridgeway broke his mark for assists in a game from last year (14) with 16 Saturday, and Lee tied a school record with eight 3-pointers made, while scoring a new career-high 34 points. He shot 12-of-13 from the field, including 8-of-9 from three-point range.

Cuevas tallied 19 points and four rebounds.

All 11 KU players that saw the court recorded points, including juniors Ricky Hicks (Coatesville, Pa./Polytech) and David Johnson (Dunellen, N.J./Dunellen), and sophomore Josh Townsend (Philadelphia, Pa./Imhotep Charter), who all broke their own previous records for points in a game. Hicks and Johnson both finished with 12 points and Townsend had eight.

Redshirt-freshman Moe Williams (Townsend, Del./Life Center Academy) burst onto the scene in his first collegiate game. He tallied 13 points and eight rebounds, joining Ridgeway, Lee, Cuevas and Rafiq Marshall (Philadelphia, Pa./Simon Gratz (Cheyney)) in the starting lineup. Marshall was the sixth KU player to record double-figures in points, finishing with 10.

Senior captain Demetrius Bennett (Conshohocken, Pa./Plymouth-Whitemarsh (Neumann)) had seven points, three rebounds and three assists.

Sophomore Oenis Medina (Reading, Pa./Reading (Shippensburg)) and freshmen Kiyon Hardy (Philadelphia, Pa./The Shipley School) and Joseph O'Brien (Abington, Pa./Abington) rounded out the Golden Bears who found their names in the scoring column. Townsend ended with eight points and Hardy and Medina both contributed six.

The Devils (2-0) won both of their games last weekend in the Wilmington Tip-Off Classic, 63-54 over LIU Post on Friday, and 79-67 against New York Institute of Technology Saturday.

The Sciences features three players averaging double-digits in points per game (ppg) on the year, including Brendan Crawford (20.0 ppg), Will Gregorits (16.5) and Paddy Casey (12.5).
