KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Kutztown men's basketball heads into a brand new season with a very new look across its roster. KU begins the 2026-27 season voted seventh in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division poll, as voted on by the conference's head coaches and announced Thursday.
Â
The Golden Bears finished last season 6-20 overall and 3-18 in the PSAC. They enter this season under second-year head coach
Tom York, so nothing is new and the goals and expectations are the same as they were last year.
Â
"Our goals for this year are we want to be competitive in the PSAC East, fight for a playoff spot and get back to the PSAC Tournament, which we haven't been at in a while," said York. "We're excited for the challenging schedule we have, including playing primarily on the road with our "home" games at Penn State Berks. The PSAC is going to be very tough this season, like it always is."
Â
The Maroon and Gold graduated three starters from last season that left with a lot of talent and leadership. This year's squad brings in a ton of fresh faces, but still has a core of 3-4 returners from last season.
Â
"Our team is built around mainly youth, with 7-8 freshman," York said. "And then we have a couple of talented upperclassmen as leaders. So, if we can combine all of that and mesh at the right time, we can be a very special team and surprise some teams this year. I'm very excited about our preseason and hope to get Kutztown back to where we want it to be."
