Men's Tennis Falls Just Short in Fall Season Finale

Results

SPARKILL, N.Y. – The Kutztown University men's tennis team fell just short of completing its fall regular season unbeaten, dropping the finale 5-4 in non-conference action to Saint Thomas Aquinas Monday afternoon.

After losing two-of-three doubles sets, and trailing 2-1, the Golden Bears lost the first two singles matches, but battled back taking the next two, to cut the deficit to just 4-3 with two singles matches left to be decided.

Needing to win both, the Spartans wasted little time and took the next singles match, and ultimately the 5-4 match overall.

Nikolay Kodinov (Plovdiv, Bulgaria/Model High School of Mathematics) and Gabriel Nogara Souza (Curitiba, Brazil/Dom Bosco) won the only doubles set 8-4 for KU.

In singles action, Kodinov and Souza were victorious once again, winning their matches 7-5, 7-6 and 6-2, 6-2 respectively.

Nolan Perugini () also won his singles match for KU by a score of 6-2, 6-0.

Kutztown will now look to prepare for its spring season, which begins on March 10, with its spring break trip to Hilton Head, SC.
