KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The 18th-ranked Kutztown University wrestling team capped off a perfect weekend and ran its winning streak to 10 with two victories at the KU Duals at Keystone Arena on Saturday. It defeated Belmont Abbey, 32-11, and American International, 52-3, to move to 10-1 on the year.
KU's 52 points vs. AIC were its most in a match in more than a decade – dating back 14 years to a 54-3 win over Wagner on Dec. 8, 2002.
For the two-day tournament, KU went 4-0 and outscored its opponents, 147-38, averaging more than 36 team points per match.
The Golden Bears won 8-of-10 matches vs. Belmont Abbey. They won the first three to go up 13-0, but Belmont Abbey rallied with 11 points in two matches to bring the score to 13-11. From there, KU rattled off 19 unanswered points in its 32-11 win.
Against a short-staffed AIC in the finale, KU won the first nine matches before falling in the heavyweight bout.

Austin Petril (Clifton Heights, Pa./Upper Darby (Ursinus)) won both of his Saturday matches by bonus points – an 11-1 major over Belmont and a 19-2 tech. fall vs. AIC. At 133,
Lucas Miller (Perkiomenville, Pa./Boyertown Area) didn't have to break a sweat in his two wins by forfeit.
At 141,
Mikey O'Brien (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) stepped in and won both of his matches, including a pin over AIC in 2:05.
No. 3
T.C. Warner (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley (Bloomsburg)) endured his toughest match of the season against Belmont Abbey. He went ahead early, 2-0, and held his lead throughout in a narrow 2-1 victory – his first non-bonus point victory of the season. He remains undefeated this year at 8-0.
Joe Balboni (Springfield, N.J./Jonathan Dayton (Old Dominion)) pinned Belmont Abbey's 174-pounder in 2:18, and won a 17-1 tech. fall over AIC.
Jeff Reimel (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) won matches at 184 and 197 on Saturday. He suited up at 197 vs. Belmont Abbey and won a 10-0 major decision, and pinned AIC's 184-pounder in 2:58.

Ryan Appleby (Belvidere, N.J./Belvidere) wrestled Saturday, picking up a 5-3 decision over Belmont Abbey.
Looking ahead, KU will travel to Lake Erie College in Ohio for matches against No. 14 Lake Erie and No. 12 Ashland University on Saturday, Jan. 28.
