HAMPTON, Va. – The Kutztown University wrestling team won 8-of-10 bouts Friday morning to open the Virginia Duals with a 39-6 win over the Newport News Apprentice School.
The Golden Bears (4-1), ranked 22nd in Division II, move on to the semifinals on Saturday, Jan. 14, at 2 p.m. vs. Camden County College.

Austin Petril (Clifton Heights, Pa./Upper Darby (Ursinus)) won his fourth-straight match at 125, turning in a 17-2 tech. fall. He improves to a team-best 9-3 on the season.
Mikey O'Brien (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) returned to the mat for the first time in more than two months and won a 17-3 major decision at 141. He was followed by
Chad Haegele (Warrington, Pa./Archbishop Wood) at 149, who pinned his opponent in 18 seconds - the quickest pin of the year for the Golden Bears and tied for 11th-fastest all-time with teammate

Bill Manley (Monroe Township, Pa./Tunkhannock Area) won a 7-2 decision at 157, and No. 5
T.C. Warner (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley (Bloomsburg)) did not allow a point in an 18-0 tech. fall victory at 165.
Joe Balboni (Springfield, N.J./Jonathan Dayton (Old Dominion)) won a 19-4 tech. fall at 174,
Collin Schildt (Thurmont, Md./Catoctin) won by forfeit at 184 and
Christian Jenco (Mahwah, N.J./Bergen Catholic) returned to the lineup to win a 16-1 tech. fall at 197.
Kutztown's 39 team points were a season-high.
