KUTZTOWN, Pa. - The Kutztown University softball team looks to extend its three-game win streak on Saturday at 1 p.m. as it will honor three seniors before it takes on East Stroudsburg in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) doubleheader at North Campus Field on Senior Day.

Kutztown (24-10, 7-3 PSAC) defeated East Stroudsburg (15-15, 1-9) in both games of a road doubleheader earlier this season by scores of 10-5 and 6-4. KU has won the last three meetings with the Warriors dating back to last season.

The Golden Bears will head into their Senior Day doubleheader with fresh legs as they have only played four total games since April 2. They are currently on a three-game win streak, coming off wins over Millersville (5-4) and Shippensburg (5-0, 6-1).

KU currently sits in second place in the PSAC East standings with its 7-3 conference record, while ESU is fifth at 1-9.

Seniors
Danielle Sienko (Philadelphia, Pa./William Penn Charter),
Rachel Lawes (Reading, Pa./Governor Mifflin) and
Krista Schauder (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown Area) will all be honored on Saturday as the trio will play at North Campus Field for one of the final times in their four-year careers.

All three Golden Bear seniors have made significant contributions this season, helping lead the team to 24-10 record. Sienko is third on the team with a .375 batting average (22nd in PSAC), while also recording 36 hits, 12 doubles (third) and 17 RBI.

Lawes is one of two players on the team to start in all 34 games this season. She is hitting .306 with 19 hits, 11 runs scored and a career-high eight stolen bases. Lawes has recorded at least one hit in 14 games, including seven in a row at the beginning of March.

Schauder has started in 10 of her 15 games for KU. She has six hits and two RBI on the season. Schauder has also walked four times and scored a run.

Sienko holds a 3.94 grade point average and will graduate in May with a degree in applied mathematics and a minor in psychology. Lawes has a 3.96 grade point average and will also graduate in May with a degree in communication studies with a double minor in political science and public relations.

Schauder is set to graduate in December with a degree in electronic media and minors in communications and public relations. She has a 3.67 grade point average during her KU career.
Freshman outfielder
Sara Keeny (Warminster, Pa./William Tennent) has been brilliant for the Golden Bears all season long, starting in all 34 games and recording team-highs of a .441 batting average (third in PSAC), 52 hits (tied for first), 31 runs scored (seventh), 11 walks and 19 stolen bases (third). Keeny has recorded at least one hit in 26 games and has had 17 multi-hit games this season.

Danielle Amato (Henderson, Nev./Coronado) is hitting .385 this season (14th in PSAC) with 40 hits (tied for 12th) and team-highs of four home runs and 23 RBI (tied for 11th). Infielder
Gabby Tareila (Limerick, Pa./Spring-Ford) is hitting .363 with 29 hits, while pitchers
Bridget Newman (Ardmore, Pa./Haverford) and
Savannah Nierintz (Clifton Heights, Pa./Upper Darby), as well as infielder
Nicki Mann (Greentown, Pa./Wallenpaupack Area) are all hitting over the .300 mark.

On the mound, Nierintz has started 17 games, recording a 12-7 record with team-highs of a 1.84 ERA (tenth), 13 complete games (fourth) and 73 strikeouts (12th). Newman has started eight games, posting a 5-1 record with three complete games, 13 strikeouts and a 1.97 ERA (12th).

The Warriors are coming off a doubleheader split with Bloomfield College, winning game two, 4-3. Coming into the weekend doubleheader, ESU has won four of its past six games.  Â

Haley Thomas leads East Stroudsburg with a .434 batting average this season and team-highs of 36 hits and six doubles. Samantha Pickar and Heather Visco are each batting .348. Pickar has recorded 23 hits and 13 RBI, while Visco has posted 31 hits and a team-high 21 RBI.

Rachael Liguori has started in 16 games on the mound for ESU, posting an 8-8 record with a 4.17 ERA and a team-high 69 strikeouts. Allison Mende and Amanda Carlin have each appeared on the mound in over a dozen games for the Warriors. Mende has a team-best 3.47 ERA, while Carlin holds a 4-2 record with a 4.07 ERA.

Following Saturday's Senior Day, Kutztown travels to Nyack College in New York for a doubleheader on Tuesday, April 19, beginning at 2:30 p.m. It will then travel to Millersville for two games on Friday, April 22, and finish up the regular season with a home doubleheader against West Chester on Saturday, April 23.
