KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The eighth-ranked Kutztown University field hockey team hosts the Mansfield Mountaineers this Saturday, Oct. 15, at 1 p.m. as it honors five seniors at Andre Reed Stadium in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) matchup.
The five seniors that will be honored on Saturday afternoon are
Analyse Gaspich (Palmyra, Pa./Lower Dauphin),
Jessica Strohecker (Landisburg, Pa./West Perry),
Courtney Ueberroth (Stevens, Pa./Cocalico),
Julia Snyder (Red Lion, Pa./Dallastown Area) and
Megan Tiwold (Northampton, Pa./Northampton). All five players have been with the Golden Bears for all four years of
Marci Scheuing's KU coaching career and were a part of the 2015 squad that hosted KU's first-ever home playoff game.
Gaspich has started in 52 of her 67 career games with the Golden Bears, posting seven assists and 18 shots-on-goal. This season she has an assist and four shots-on-goal. Gaspich had a career-high three assists during her junior season in 2015.
The Landisburg native, Strohecker, has started in all 33 of her career games at KU. She has had a strong season after missing the 2015 campaign due to an injury. Strohecker has started in all 13 games this season, posting a goal, two assists and three shots-on-goal. She had a career-high two goals in her freshman season in 2013.
Ueberroth, a team captain, is having another great season after being named to the 2015 All-PSAC Second Team last season. This season she has recorded a goal and two assists. For her career, Ueberroth has started in 48 of 52 games, posting five goals, seven assists and 24 shots-on-goal.
Snyder has started in 12 of her 55 career appearances for the Golden Bears. She started a career-high six games in 2014, recording two assists. Snyder has posted totals of three goals and four assists during her KU career. This season, she has an assist in 12 total appearances.
Tiwold is a co-captain and has started in 12 games for KU this season. She has recorded four goals and two assists this season. Tiwold posted a career-high seven goals and 16 total points during the 2015 season.
The Northampton native, Tiwold, has started in 57 of her 67 career games played, posting 17 goals, five assists and 51 shots-on-goal in an impressive four-year career for the Golden Bears.
Kutztown (8-5, 2-3 PSAC) heads into its senior day matchup with Mansfield with a 4-2 record in its last six games and is coming off a 2-0 win over Limestone on Thursday.
Madison Stewart (New Castle, Del./William Penn) has led the KU offense this season, recording team-highs of six goals and 14 points.
Courtney Konowal (Plymouth Meeting, Pa./Plymouth-Whitemarsh),
Madison Wampler (York, Pa./West York Area) and Tiwold have also contributed with four goals each.
Goalkeeper
Chardonnay Hope (New Castle, Del./William Penn) has had a strong season, starting in all 13 games, posting 69 saves (fifth in PSAC) and a .812 save percentage (fourth).
Mansfield is led on offense by Christie Buyer, who has a team-leading six points. Goalkeeper Laura Lawson has recorded a PSAC-leading 118 saves this season.
Following senior day, KU has four regular-season games remaining. Next week, it travels to Seton Hill on Tuesday, Oct. 18, for a 4 p.m. start and hosts Millersville on Friday, Oct. 21, at 4 p.m.
The Golden Bears currently are tied for sixth in the PSAC standings with Indiana (PA). They have just over two weeks remaining in the regular-season before their playoff fate is determined. The top-six teams in the PSAC qualify for the conference playoffs.
