KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Kutztown University women's volleyball team will be on the road this weekend to play four matches, which will be held at Wheeling Jesuit University and West Liberty University.
The first two matches for the Golden Bears will be played on Friday, Sept. 18, in Wheeling, W. Va. against Shepherd University and Wheeling Jesuit. Kutztown then heads off to West Liberty University on Saturday, Sept. 19, to face West Liberty and Fairmont State.
Kutztown looks to have a strong showing this weekend and improve upon its 1-5 record early in the season. Despite the slow start to the season, Kutztown has certainly had its fair share of great individual performances.
Senior
Audrey Stringer (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) leads the Golden Bears in multiple offensive categories. Stringer has recorded 70 kills, 160 total attacks and 27 total blocks in six matches thus far. She is tied for sixth in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) in blocks, while also being ranked eighth in the conference in both kills and total attacks.
Zandria Zielinski (York, Pa./York Catholic) has also played well, recording 39 kills and 17 total blocks, which are both the second-highest totals on the team behind Stringer.
Freshman
Shannon Restrepo (Reading, Pa./Exeter Township) has been arguably the most productive player overall for Kutztown, contributing in several statistical categories. Restrepo has 34 kills, seven service aces, 54 digs, 10 total blocks and leads the team with 111 assists.
Lauren Szkolnicki (Springfield, Pa./Country Day School of the Sacred Heart) has recorded 32 kills and seven blocks in six matches. Junior
Tori Wakelee (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown East) has chipped in with 30 kills and 66 kills for Kutztown.
Jessica Howe (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg Area) has played well in her freshman campaign with 28 kills thus far.
Junior
Anna Conti (Grove City, Ohio/Grove City) is second on the team with 86 assists, while also recording 49 digs and four service aces.
Madison Brake (Reynoldsburg, Ohio/Bishop Hartley) leads the squad with 116 digs and has contributed with five service aces. Brake's 116 digs are the 11th best total in the PSAC.
The Atlantic Region Crossover will take place on Friday and Saturday at both Wheeling Jesuit University and West Liberty University. The matches for Kutztown on Friday are scheduled for 11:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. at Wheeling Jesuit, while the Saturday contests are scheduled for 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. at West Liberty.
