Janice Regan Signs On as Assistant Tennis Coach at Kutztown University

KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Kutztown University has announced that Janice Regan has been named assistant coach of the men's and women's tennis programs.

Regan acted as the interim head coach of the KU tennis programs during the spring of 2015. She was on staff as a volunteer assistant coach prior to her interim appointment.

Regan uses her experience as a player for one aspect of her coaching acumen. She was a four-year player from 1981-84, and was inducted into the Shippensburg University Athletic Hall of Fame in 2002. At the time of her graduation, she had the second-highest total number of wins in team history with 82. She also held the Shippensburg record for most consecutive doubles wins with 17.

She is a three-time PSAC singles champion and helped the Lady Raiders to PSAC titles in 1983 and 1984, and a second place finish in 1981.

In the fall of 1982, she teamed with Judy O'Connell, now KU head softball coach Judy Lawes, to finish second at No. 2 doubles. They would go on to win the No. 2 doubles title in 1983 and helped Shippensburg win its first-ever conference tournament championship. In 1984, Shippensburg repeated as the PSAC champion as Regan won the conference title at No. 2 singles and finished second with O'Connell at No. 1 doubles.

Following graduation, Regan pursued a career in business. She was a banking officer and branch manager with Meridian Bank in Reading, Pa. While in Reading, she was active in Operation Facelift, the Hawk Mountain Boy Scout Council Fund Raiser, the YMCA Golden Rule Campaign, Magic in Mohnton, and she was a corporate calling representative for the United Way.

From 1993 to 2002, Regan lived in Ithaca, New York. She taught private tennis lessons, coached at Ithaca High School in 1998-99 and ran a tennis camp at Ithaca College from 1995-98.

Regan is a certified professional with the United State Professional Tennis Registry (USPTR).

Regan, a native of Westminster, MD, earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Shippensburg University in 1985, and a Master of Management degree from Penn State in 1994.
