HILTON HEAD, S.C. – Senior duo Varun Desai and Ken Beebe moved to 4-0 in doubles play this season, but it was the only match the Kutztown University men's tennis team won on Monday in an 8-1 setback to the University of Charleston.
 
Desai and Beebe played at the third flight of doubles play and won 8-5. Kutztown's other two doubles teams each tallied three or more points, but were unable to come away with victories against Charleston (2-1), who competed in the NCAA Tournament last year.
 
Desai suffered a tough 7-5, 6-3 setback at No. 1 singles, and Rich Lichtenwalner dropped two 7-6 sets for Kutztown's two closest singles matches.
 
The Golden Bears (3-1) return to action tomorrow, Tuesday March 10, against North Carolina Central at 2 p.m.
