KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Kutztown University cheerleading team is pleased to announce that the 2014-15 team has been selected. The team had a strong turnout at its open gyms in which it invited 35 girls to participate in try-out weekend.
 
KU cheerleading tryouts consist of performing stunts, tumbling, and also performing a cheer and dance.
 
Returning members include: Samantha Cella (Ringwood, NJ/Lakeland Regional), Allie Emery (Phillipsburg, NJ/Phillipsburg), Ashlee Luzetsky (Kennett Square, PA/Kennett), Kelsey McGuire (Horsham, PA/Hatboro-Horsham), Christina Merrick (Sugarloaf, PA/Hazleton Area), Kayla Miller (Roxbury, NJ/Roxbury), Victoria Rost (West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford), Sarah Shiley (Camp Hill, PA/Cedar Cliff), Chelsea Swanger (Gettysburg, PA/New Oxford), Taylor Vincent (Easton, PA/Easton), and Brittany Wiltshire (Allentown, PA/Parkland).
 
New members include: Brooke Zerphy, Taylor Hajcak, Ashley Kahl, Alexis Poirier, Karlie Leber, Ally Christiansen, Caitlyn Mulloy, Carly Mulloy, Lybee Lightener, Shannon Wahl, Gabby Vanderere, Taylor Glassberg, Nikki Starkey, Shaira Duffie, and Sarah Rabenold.
 
This year's team includes members from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Illinois, and North Carolina.
 
The cheer team would also like to announce that it will be holding a fall try-out for the game team for those who missed the spring try-out. The try-out date will be released in early August.
 
All interested cheerleaders are invited to attend, even if they did not attend an open gym this past spring. Male cheerleaders are also encouraged to try-out. All members of the game team are required to have a standing back handspring; game team members cheer at all football games, and home men's and women's basketball games.
