KU Men’s Tennis Comes up Empty at Bloomsburg Duals

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – As a preparation for next week's conference championships, the Kutztown University men's tennis team competed in a pair of non-conference matches on Saturday afternoon at the Bloomsburg Duals. In a first-to-five format, KU fell 5-0 to Bluefield State and 5-1 to Chestnut Hill.
 
Bluefield State swept the three double matches in the first contest, and then took the No. 1 and No. 5 singles matches in straight sets to secure the victory.
 
Rushi Amin (Orefield, PA/Lake Brantley) and Varun Desai (Mumbai, India/K.C. College) teamed up at No. 1 doubles to grab KU's only win against Chestnut Hill in the second match (8-5). Chestnut Hill grabbed the last two doubles matches and swept the four, five, and six singles flights in straight sets to win 5-1.
 
The Golden Bears (11-4) will play one final non-conference match before next week's PSAC Semifinals on Thursday, April 17 at West Chester University. KU takes on Shepherd University at home this Sunday, April 13 at 3:30 p.m.
