HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Kutztown University women's tennis team won its second in a row at the PTR Spring TennisFest with a 9-0 victory of McDaniel College from the Shipyard Racquet Club on Tuesday afternoon.
 
Kutztown (2-3) dropped only three sets total on its way to three victories in doubles competition. Hannah Pipkin (Landisville, Pa./Hempfield) and Tori Zander (Pennsburg, PA/Upper Perkiomen) at No. 1 doubles and Alyssa Konas (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) and Chelsea Davis (Spring City, Pa./Spring-Ford) at No 2. doubles both swept their opponents 8-0. Cynthia Good (Montrose, Pa./Elk Lake) and Erika Diffendall (Mountville, Pa./Lancaster Catholic) teamed up for an 8-3 victory at No. 3 doubles.
 
The Golden Bears also dominated singles competition, winning all six matches in straight-sets. Pipkin took down Winsome Schauer 6-1, 6-2 in the No.1 spot and Zander defeated Laura Pollard 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2 singles to secure the Kutztown victory. Konas, this week's PSAC Athlete of the Week, won 6-3, 6-3 over Elise O'Meara at the No. 3 slot. Davis took down Danielle Cloney at No. 4 (6-0, 6-2) and Good defeated Nicole Arnold at No. 5 singles (6-1, 6-2). Danielle Patterson (Larksville, Pa./Wyoming Valley West) was leading Angie Johnson 6-4, 4-1 at No. 6 singles before the match was retired.
 
Both the men's and women's KU tennis squads will face the University of Illinois Springfield tomorrow, Mar. 19 at noon.
