FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Kutztown University women's swimming team enjoyed much warmer weather than on Kutztown's campus on Tuesday, as it swam outside and enjoyed the 58 degree weather at the Bob Mowerson Sprint Meet in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, as part of its winter trip.

Kutztown was one of four women's programs competing at the Division II level. Bloomsburg, Clarion, and Hillsdale also took to trip down south to Florida.

Natalie Carr (Exeter, Pa./Wyoming Area) and
Caitlin Davies (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata) were Kutztown's top finisher on Tuesday afternoon. Carr finished third overall in the 50 breast in 39.03 to earn nine points towards Kutztown's final score, and Davies finished third in the 50 free in 29.40 seconds to also earn Kutztown nine points. Kutztown finished fourth as a team with 48 points.

Three Golden Bears earned points in the 50 fly.
Jessica Bleiler (Dillsburg, Pa./Northern) finished fourth in 32.09 seconds, followed by
Zoe Sianis (Wyomissing, Pa./Wyomissing) in sixth (33.37) and
Rachael Burke (Barnesville, Pa./Mahanoy Area) in 10th (34.43).

In the 50 back, Kutztown had four swimmers compete, the most of any school.
Samantha Scialpi (West Pittston, Pa./Pittston) turned in a fifth place effort of 36.56 to lead KU in the event.
Emily Scordato (Bellefonte, Pa./Bellefonte) was seventh (39.11), immediately followed by
Ellen Groeneveld (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) (39.42) and
Caitlyn Falguera (Hatboro, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) (39.73).
