BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – Led by Hannah Pipkin (Landisville, Pa./Hempfield) reaching the quarterfinals in singles play, the Kutztown University women's tennis team opened its fall season Saturday at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Individual Championships hosted by Bloomsburg University.

In the first round of singles, Pipkin secured a 6-0, 6-0 sweep over Brittney Buckley of Shippensburg. She went on to keep a perfect 6-0, 6-0 defeat over Ale Heller of Millersville in the second round. Pipkin fell short in the quarterfinals, however, losing her first set to Caroline Bristol of Mercyhurst 2-6, and failed to rebound in the second set.

Also competing in singles, senior Tori Zander (Pennsburg, PA/Upper Perkiomen) put up a fight against Lauren Duffy of Seton Hill in both sets, but ultimately fell 4-6, 5-7.

Freshman Jessica Burns also experienced a setback to Lucie Rey of California (PA) (1-6, 0-6).

Competing in doubles, Pipkin and freshman Zachara Harley (Wyndmoor, PA/Springfield) paired to face Indiana (PA) University's Erika Schnass and Alanna McFail. The Golden Bear duo fell 8-2 to the Crimson Hawks.

The Golden Bears return to action Thursday, Sept. 26, to face Albright College at Keystone Courts.
