KUTZTOWN, Pa. –
Varun Desai (Mumbai, India/K.C. College) stretched his individual winning streak to eight as the Kutztown University men's tennis team defeated Bloomsburg University 9-0 on Tuesday in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division match at the Keystone Courts.
Desai won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 doubles to improve his season record to 11-1.
Rushi Amin (Orefield, PA/Lake Brantley) also extended his winning streak at No. 1 doubles with a 6-0, 6-3 win for his fifth consecutive victory.
Matthew Macguire won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3 singles, as
Rich Lichtenwalner (Allentown, Pa./Parkland),
Patricio Hernandez (Mexico City, Mexico/Colegio Vista Hermosa), and
Ben Nace (Spring Grove, Pa./Delone Catholic) also won in singles play.
Kutztown allowed five combined points in double play. Amin and Desai won 8-3 at the top flight of double play. Maguire and Nace won 8-1 in doubles, as did
Bilawal Suri (Kolkata, India/Calcutta International) and
Parth Girme (Pune, India/B.M.C.C.) at No. 3 doubles.
The Golden Bears return to action on Saturday, April 13 to face Bluefield State at the BU Duals in Bloomsburg beginning at 10 a.m.
