Men’s Tennis Earns Second Consecutive Win on Home Court

KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Kutztown University men's tennis team returned to the Keystone Courts Saturday afternoon to defeat Mercyhurst University 8-1 after inflicting the exact fate on Edinboro University the day before.
 
The Golden Bears (7-5 overall, 3-1 PSAC) won all three doubles matches, and five of six singles matches against the Lakers (3-9, 1-1).
 
Returning doubles partners Rushi Amin (Orefield, PA/Lake Brantley) and Varun Desai (Mumbai, India/K.C. College) (8-5) and Matthew Maguire and Kenny Beebe (8-2) both earned their second victories as pairs, while Ben Nace (Spring Grove, Pa./Delone Catholic) and Rich Lichtenwalner (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) earned their fourth victory as a pair this season.
 
In singles, Amin (6-3, 6-2), Desai (6-1, 7-5), Lichtenwalner (6-1, 6-4), and Nace (6-1, 6-2) also had victories. Desai continued his seven-match winning streak, while Amin took his to four, and Nace reached two.
 
Patricio Hernandez (Mexico City, Mexico/Colegio Vista Hermosa) also had a victory in singles winning his second consecutive match 6-1, 6-2.
 
The Golden Bears return to action Tuesday, April 9 to face Bloomsburg University at home on the Keystone Courts for a 2 p.m. start.
