KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Kutztown University men's tennis team defeated Edinboro University 8-1 Friday afternoon in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) match at the Keystone Courts.
The Golden Bears (6-5 overall, 2-1 PSAC) won all three doubles matches, and five of six singles matches against the Fighting Scots (12-5, 0-1).
KU had victories in two new sets of doubles partners in
Rushi Amin (Orefield, PA/Lake Brantley) and
Varun Desai (Mumbai, India/K.C. College) (8-0) and Kenny Beebe and Matthew Maguire (8-3), while
Ben Nace (Spring Grove, Pa./Delone Catholic) and
Rich Lichtenwalner (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) (8-1) earned their third victory as a pair this season.
In singles, Amin (6-2, 6-2), Desai (6-3, 6-3), Maguire (6-4, 7-6), and Nace (6-4, 6-4) also had victories. Desai continued his six-match winning streak, while Maguire took his to five, and Amin reached three.
Patricio Hernandez (Mexico City, Mexico/Colegio Vista Hermosa) also had a victory in singles winning 6-1, 7-5.
The Golden Bears return to action tomorrow Saturday, April 6, to face Mercyhurst at home on the Keystone Courts for a 12 p.m. start.
