WEST CHESTER, Pa. – The Kutztown University men's tennis team dropped the final singles game to be played and fell to West Chester University 5-4 Saturday afternoon in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) matchup at West Chester's South Campus Tennis Courts.

The Golden Bears (5-5, 1-1 PSAC) started the near-five hour match with an 8-5 victory at No. 1 doubles by Rushi Amin (Orefield, PA/Lake Brantley) and Matthew Maguire, their second win in a row. However, Kutztown dropped the following two doubles matches to trail 2-1.

Kutztown's top three seeds in singles play picked up victories. Amin defeated Connor Dunn 6-2, 6-4 at No. 1 singles. Varun Desai (Mumbai, India/K.C. College) won his fifth straight match with a 6-1, 6-3 victory, and Macguire won his fourth in a row with a 6-4, 6-1 win.

The match was tied at 4-4 with only No. 6 singles to be completed. Bilawal Suri (Kolkata, India/Calcutta International) overcame a first set loss (1-6) with a second set victory (6-2) to force a match-deciding third set. Unfortunately for the Golden Bears, Joseph Cooke took down Suri 6-1 for the individual and team victory.
