LANCASTER, Pa. – Senior distance swimmer
Elizabeth Metz (Rosemont, Pa./Radnor) posted a career-best time of 17:42.85 in the 1650-free to finish third overall in an existing Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) cut to highlight the Kutztown University women's swimming team's opening day of competition at the Franklin & Marshall Invite on Friday night.

Metz improved on her third-ranked swim in school history by more than a second, as her previous-best was 17:43.9 at the 2012 PSAC Championships. Junior
Kelli Sheatsley (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) finished ninth in the 1650-free in 18:54.60.

Kutztown's 'A' team finished fifth in the invite-opening 200-free relay in a season-best time. KU finished in 1:41.60, nearly a two-second improvement from its previous-best. Junior
Caitlin Davies (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata), Kutztown's second leg, swam the fastest time of the KU quartet in 24.82 seconds. Leadoff swimmer
Jessica Bleiler (Dillsburg, Pa./Northern) got KU out to second place after the first leg, as
Zoe Sianis (Wyomissing, Pa./Wyomissing) was third for KU and had the team leading heading into the final leg.

Kutztown's 'B' team of
Rachael Burke (Barnesville, Pa./Mahanoy Area),
Vicky Ceasar (Coplay, Pa./Whitehall),
Ellen Groeneveld (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown), and
Natalie Carr (Exeter, Pa./Wyoming Area) also swam a season-best time. Their mark of 1:48.64 placed them 10th overall in the event.
