KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Junior forward Sam Costello (Westfield, N.J./Westfield) of the Kutztown University women's soccer team has earned this week's Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Athlete of the Week, released by the conference office Monday afternoon.
 
Costello scored two goals and registered two assists to help Kutztown (7-3, 7-3 PSAC) win both of its games last week. With her help, the Golden Bears extended its winning streak to six games for the first time since 2008.
 
This season, Costello has been the main component for Kutztown's impressive six-game winning streak. She leads the Golden Bears in points with four goals and seven assists for 15 points.
 
The junior is having an outstanding season. Her determination and effort on the field has enabled her to lead the PSAC in shots this season with 44 as she averages 4.4 shots per game. She ranks second in the PSAC with seven assists behind Mani Brueckner of Gannon with nine.
 
Kutztown travels to Mansfield University on Saturday, Oct. 12 for a PSAC game beginning at 1:30 p.m.
