KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Senior forward
Corinne Morgan (Port Republic, N.J./Cedar Creek) scored game-winning goal to lead No.4 Kutztown University women's soccer to a 1-0 victory over Bloomsburg in a PSAC East rematch, Saturday afternoon at Keystone Field.
After a scoreless first half, the Golden Bears came out strong in the second half, breaking through in the 51st minute when Morgan found the back of the net off an assist from
Giavanna Marciano (Trappe, Pa./Perkiomen Valley). Marciano delivered a pass into the right corner of the six-yard box, where Morgan finished into the upper-right corner to give KU the 1-0 lead.
KU controlled the match offensively, outshooting Bloomsburg 20-4 advantage in shots (10-0 on goal). The Golden Bears also finished with five corner kicks to Bloomsburg's three.
Defensively the Maroon and Gold limited the Huskies to four shots and did not allow a shot on goal, securing its fourth consecutive shutout and extending their win streak to five games.
The win avenged Kutztown's earlier 2-1 loss to Bloomsburg this season and improved the Golden Bears to 12-1-2 overall and 9-1-1 in PSAC East Play.
Kutztown will hit the road to take on Millersville on Wednesday, Oct. 21, at 7 p.m.
