KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Kutztown picked up a resounding 8-1 win over visiting Fairmont State as four different Golden Bears picked up two wins each.
The Golden Bears opened the afternoon by sweeping the three doubles matchups.
Rushi Amin (Orefield, PA/Lake Brantley) and Matthew Maguire teamed for an 8-2 win over Jeremy Gouzd and Connor McMorrow at first doubles.
Varun Desai (Mumbai, India/K.C. College) and
Parth Girme (Pune, India/B.M.C.C.) shut out Zach Smith and Stephen Ware and
Ben Nace (Spring Grove, Pa./Delone Catholic) and
Rich Lichtenwalner (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) notched an 8-3 victory against David Bannister and Lucas Myers.
In singles play, each of KU's five winners won without dropping more than two games. Amin took down Gouzd, 6-1, 6-1 at first singles. Desai, Lichtenwalner and
Bilawal Suri (Kolkata, India/Calcutta International) won by matching 6-0, 6-1 scores, respectively, at second fifth and sixth singles. Nace was a 6-1, 6-0 winner at four singles over Ware.
The Golden Bears have a quick turnaround as the University of Scranton visits Keystone Tennis Courts on Saturday, September 29 at 1 p.m.
