Box Score

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – Behind two goals from freshman Anna Behm (Kutztown, Pa./Kutztown), the Kutztown University field hockey jumped out to an early lead before LIU Post strung together a five-goal run, en route to a 7-3 victory on Friday afternoon in Brookville, N.Y. Senior Karly Waltman (Birdsboro, PA/Twin Valley) posted 12 saves in the loss.

Behm got the Golden Bears on the board first when senior Emily Labowitz (Bala Cynwyd, PA/Lower Merion) sent a cross through the circle that found Behm, who put the ball past the keeper at the 7:12 mark of the first. After the Pioneers tied the game, Behm, yet again put KU in front with a shot from five yards out in the 27th minute of the first. Two late first half-half goals by LIU Post gave the Pioneers a 3-2 lead heading into halftime.

With a 3-2 advantage to start the second, the Pioneers netted three-straight to begin the half and extend their lead to four goals. Out of a scramble in front of the net, Kutztown's junior Erin Reynolds (York, PA/Central York) notched the Golden Bears third goal of the game but the late effort would fall short, as the Maroon and Gold fell, 7-3.

On the afternoon, the Pioneers outshot Kutztown, 25-4, and were awarded 16 penalty corners to KU's 7.

Waltman picked up the loss in net for the Maroon and Gold, stopping 12 shots, while senior Amy Dando (Marysville, PA/Susquenita) and freshman Rayann Fink (Fleetwood, Pa./Fleetwood) added one defensive save apiece. Picking up the win for LIU Post was Becca May who registered one save.

The Golden Bears will return to action on Tuesday night when they host Bloomsburg at 7 p.m. on University Field.
