SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – No. 1 Kutztown went across the state and continued its win streak to start the 2026 regular season as it scored five unanswered goals in a 5-1 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference victory over No. 7 Slippery Rock Saturday afternoon at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.

The Golden Bears (12-0 overall, 3-0 PSAC) handed the Rock (8-2, 1-2) just their second defeat on the year, second in-a-row.

Ellie Myers (Denver, Pa./Cocalico) tallied two goals and each of
Marissa Rice (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg),
Jessica Traynor (Pennsburg, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) and
Jordan Stroup (Millerstown, Pa./Greenwood) netted one.
Marlee Fetrow (Birdsboro, Pa./Daniel Boone),
Julia Traynor (Pennsburg, Pa./Upper Perkiomen),
Taylor Vaccaro (Oley, Pa./Oley Valley) and
Meryl Mesenbrink (Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead) all contributed an assist.

Traynor got the scoring going for her team just 1:47 into the game with her second goal in as many games. She had been held scoreless through the first 10 games of the season, but has now found the back of the cage in two straight games. Just 0:45 later, Rice, the two-time defending PSAC Athlete of the Week, doubled up the score with her team and conference-leading 13th tally of the season so far.

Myers and Stroup followed suit in the second quarter, giving the Maroon and Gold another two-goal period. It was Myers' 11th on the year, second-most in the PSAC, as her and Rice now are atop the scoring leaderboard for the conference. Myers added her second of the game and 12th of the season in the third quarter.

The hosts were able to prevent the shutout with a goal 7:35 into the final frame.

KU outshot SRU 22-17 overall and 15-10 on cage. Rock held a 7-5 advantage in penalty corners.
Lorelai Lehenky (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville) finished with seven saves and earned the win.
Tess Adolf (Lawrence, N.J./Lawrence) made two saves.

Kutztown has a week off until it next suits up for competition. KU will host Mansfield in a PSAC contest next Saturday, Oct. 17, at 1 p.m., from Andre Reed Stadium. KU was victorious over the Mounties 5-0 back on Sept. 19, a non-conference game.
