Kutztown’s Offensive Lead Beats Lock Haven 3-1

KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Golden Bears took the victory against Lock Haven 3-1 Tuesday afternoon with over quadruple shot tallies.
 
Lock Haven's first and only goal in the 20th minute by Morgan Rodgers ignited the fire for KU.
 
A struggle for control of the offensive advantage ensued between the Golden Bears and the Eagles until Diana Malanga (Lavallette, N.J./St. Rose) scored in the 8th minute by header off a corner kick by BrieAnn Shipkowski (Manheim, PA/Manheim Central).
 
Tied 1-1 at the open of the second half, the Golden Bears were hungry to advance.
 
A foul in the box on Lock Haven gave opportunity to Mariah Dimm (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) to score the second goal for KU by penalty kick in the 57th minute.
 
Ceaseless shooting by KU continued until an assist by Taylor Higgins (Leola, Pa./Conestoga Valley) crossed from the right found Sam Costello (Westfield, N.J./Westfield) who powerfully placed the ball in the back of the net for the third and last goal of the game at 78:30.
 
The Golden Bears ended the game with 28 shots led by Malanga with 4 shots. Lock Haven finished with 8 shots and KU goal keeper Casey Behrendt (Palmyra, PA/Palmyra) made five saves.
