BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – Kutztown University defeated Millersville in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Semifinals before falling to the hosts from Bloomsburg to finish second in the team tournament.

KU defeated the Marauders 5-4, but the Huskies took the team championship with a 5-0 win.
Against the Marauders, a win by
Varun Desai (Mumbai, India/K.C. College) (Bombay, India/K.C. College) at second singles in the final completed match gave the Golden Bears a 5-4 win. His opponent, Henry Ben, had forced a third set, but Desai rebounded for a 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 victory.
Kutztown trailed 2-1 after doubles play, but won four of six singles matches to pull out the victory. KU's lone doubles point came from
Rushi Amin (Orefield, PA/Lake Brantley) (Allentown, Pa./Lake Brantley (Fla.)) and
Matthew Maguire (Centurion, South Africa/Tuks Sports School) at second doubles, who defeated Henry Ben and Tyler Lied, 8-3.
Amin picked up his second win of the afternoon with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Preetham Moras.
At fifth singles,
Ben Nace (Spring Grove, Pa./Delone Catholic) (Spring Grove, Pa./Delone Catholic) notched a 6-2, 6-2 win against Tucker Mertz.
Darren Krout (Gordonville, PA/Pequea Valley) (Gordonville, Pa./Pequea Valley) defeated Lied in three sets, 6-0, 5-7, 6-1.
The win sent Kutztown to the championship in search of their fourth straight title. Bloomsburg, however, took all three doubles matches and the first two completed singles matches to claim the title.
Maguire as leading his match at third singles, 7-6 (7-3), 2-1, when play stopped.
Due to potential inclement weather, the PSAC Individual Championships on April 21-22 have been canceled.
