TOWSON, Md. (February 17, 2012)— The Kutztown University women's bowling team is in 13th place after the opening day at the Morgan State Invitational, hosted by Morgan State University.
The Golden Bears (43-30 overall) went 3-2 on Friday in five quad baker matches and tabbed a pinfall of 3545.
Kutztown defeated Hampton University 766-728, Morgan State 711-642, and North Carolina Central University 693-627.
KU dropped matches to Northeast Conference (NEC) mate Fairleigh Dickinson University 860-721, and Norfolk State University 822-654.
Senior
Kayla Jones (Johnstown, PA/Westmont Hilltop ) led the Golden Bears with a 19.8 baker average through 40 frames. Sophomore
Brooke Bower (Camp Hill, PA/Cedar Cliff) finished with a 19.5 baker average on the day.
Christine Gordon (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill East) saw some time on the lanes for KU and finished with a 18.8 baker average in 22 frames.
Kutztown will play five traditional team matches on Saturday against Virginia State University, Vanderbilt University, Elmhurst College, New Jersey City University, and North Carolina A&T State University.
