RESULTS
KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Kutztown University women's swimming team split Saturday's action, taking a win over Misericordia and a loss to Lock Haven at Keystone Pool.
Kutztown fell to PSAC foe East Stroudsburg, 140-120, but defeated Misericordia, 167-101.
Highlighting the afternoon for the Maroon and Gold,
Jess Mape (Camp Hill, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) grabbed the crown 100-yard breaststroke, the 200-yard breaststroke and the 200-yard individual medley as
Caitlin Davies (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata) won the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle.
Mape qualified for the PSAC's in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:09.01 and also in the 200-yard at 2:28.88 in both victories. Davies went on to qualify in both of her wins, completing the 50-yard freestyle in 25.29 and the 100-yard in 55.42.
Two other Golden Bears picked up victories on the afternoon as
Lauren Galetto (Vineland, N.J./Sacred Heart) won the 200-yard butterfly and
Elizabeth Metz (Rosemont, Pa./Radnor) won the 1,000-yard freestyle with a mark of 11:12.63. Galetto qualified for the PSAC's in the 200-yard fly at 2:12.96 with
Jessica Bleiler (Dillsburg, Pa./Northern) taking third at 2:19.57.
Galetto added a PSAC qualifying time in the 100 fly with a time of 1:00.99, good for second place. Bleiler added a third place in the event, swimming a time of 1:02.66.
Kutztown also took second and third in the 200-yard freestyle and the 100-yard butterfly. Davies (2:03.48) and Metz (2:05.22) finished 200-yard
Metz took second in the 500-free with a time of 5:31.00 and was part of the second place 200 free relay team. She teamed with Davies,
Rachael Burke (Barnesville, Pa./Mahanoy Area) and Galetto for a time of 1:46.33.
Kelli Sheatsley (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) claimed third place in the 1,000 free with a time of 11:46.16.
The team will get back to action next Saturday, November 3rd, when it travels to Edinboro to compete against the Fighting Scots, Mansfield and Bloomsburg. The events are scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start.
