LOCK HAVEN, PA (October 28, 2011) – The Kutztown University women's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 road decision to Lock Haven University Friday night, in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division match at Thomas Fieldhouse.

The Golden Bears (21-7 overall, 10-6 PSAC East) entered the match ranked eighth in the latest NCAA Atlantic Regional rankings. Lock Haven (15-8, 12-4) is ranked sixth.
KU fell to LHU in straight sets, 25-21, 26-24, and 25-22. The loss breaks a five-game winning streak for the Golden Bears who currently sit in second place in the East.

John Gump said. “Our players have worked hard to put themselves in a position to tie for first, and to fall short is tough.”
Erin Kissling (York, PA/Central York) led the way with nine kills for KU. The senior moves into second place on the team with 215 kills on the season. She also added eight digs. Fellow senior
Cait Hess (Newark, DE/St. Mark's) had eight kills followed by
Brittany Harman (Hanover, PA/South Western) with seven.
Kutztown's defense has proven to be one of the best in the country this season. It finished with 17 blocks Friday night and entered the match ranked second in Division II in blocks per game.
Katie Lutz (Greencastle, PA/Greencastle Antrim) led the way with nine solo blocks and 11 total blocks.
Cali Snell (York, PA/York Suburban) and Hess each added three block assists.
“We blocked very well tonight,” Gump said. “We went swing-for-swing with them in each set but were unable to finish.”
Senior
Lindsey Smith (Hanover, PA/Delone Catholic) had a team-high 18 digs in the setback.
Kimberlee Gomber (Washington, PA/Washington) has been consistent all season long for KU and finished with 16 assists.
Kutztown will look to rebound tomorrow as it travels to East Stroudsburg for a PSAC match beginning at 2 p.m.
