KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Outside hitter
Madilyn Bogovic (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cedar Cliff) had a breakout first season in Maroon and Gold and was one of the top hitters and defenders not only on Kutztown, but in the conference. Her success in 2025 led her to the PSAC East Freshman of the Year award, along with a First Team nod, joined by fellow outside hitter
Paige Skinner (Placerville, Calif./Ponderosa) on the Second Team, announced Thursday.
Â
Bogovic becomes just the fifth Freshman of the Year in program history and first since 2022, the second since 2002. The duo of Bogovic and Skinner give head coach
Jason Barshinger and the Golden Bears their first all-conference performers in two seasons.
Â
Bogovic, a native of Mechanicsburg, started all 28 matches and finished fifth in the conference with 361 kills, sixth at 3.37 kills per set and also added 330 digs, 43 service aces, 26 assists and 15 blocks. She recorded 17 double-doubles (kills and digs) on the year, including the last two matches of the season in big upset victories over Shepherd and Shippensburg. Her 412.5 points (kills, aces and blocks) is fifth-best in the PSAC.
Â
Like Bogovic, Skinner made an immediate impact in the lineup in her first season at Kutztown. The junior from Placerville, Calif., led the team in kills with 393 and 4.01 kills per set, both second-best in the conference. She has started in 25 matches this season and recorded 255 digs, 44 aces, 14 blocks and 14 assists. Skinner finished with 446 points, third in the PSAC, and had a 4.55 point-per-set clip, second-highest.
Â
The Golden Bears won the final three matches of the regular season and were victorious in five out of their last six matches to end the season and finished 15-13 overall and 7-7 in the PSAC East, the most wins in a season since 2011.
