Men's tennis cruise to 8-1 win

WASHINGTON, DC (March 21, 2010) - The Kutztown University men's tennis team picked up an 8-1 victory at the University of District of Columbia on Sunday afternoon with four different players each recording two wins.

Jonathan Goulet and Bobby Zerwick paired up to win the second doubles contest by a score of 8-3 over Adrian Wyllie and Lalindra Jayatilleke. Goulet was leading 4-1 in No. 2 singles before Mahmut Demirkol had to bow out due to injury. Zerwick squared off with Jayatilleke in the No. 5 singles flight with a 6-4, 6-2 victory.

The tandem of Asok Mukherjee and Cameron O'Donnell were 8-0 winners in the third doubles flight. Murkerjee then went on for a 6-4, 6-2 win at the No. 3 singles over Wyllie. O'Donnell also earned a singles victory with a 6-0, 6-1 performance at the No. 5 spot.

Kaushik Das and Arpit Sharma continued their dominance in the first doubles spot, recording an 8-4 win. The final Golden Bear win came from Darren Krout in the No. 6 singles with a 6-4, 6-2 victory.

The Golden Bears will venture to western Pennsylvania for a Friday contest against Mercyhurst starting at 2:30 p.m.
